FAQ

  • What is Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT)?

Dance/Movement Therapy is a body-based form of psychotherapy that uses movement and creative expression to support emotional, cognitive, physical, and social well-being. It’s especially effective for children and teens who may struggle to express themselves with words alone.

  • Who is a good fit for dance/movement therapy?

My practice supports children, adolescents, and families dealing with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, and social difficulties. No dance experience is needed—just a willingness to move!

  • How does virtual dance/movement therapy work?

Sessions are held via a secure video platform. I create a safe and engaging virtual space using movement games, expressive arts, mindfulness, and therapeutic conversation tailored to each child or family’s needs.

  • What does a typical session look like?

Sessions may include movement warm-ups, creative exploration, reflection, and regulation strategies. For younger children, I often incorporate play and storytelling; for teens, I blend movement with talk therapy and emotional processing.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I am a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance. However, I can provide superbills upon request for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider for eligibility, as dance/movement therapy is often not covered.

  • Do you offer consultations to schools or community organizations?

Yes! I provide consultation and workshops for schools, recreation programs, and youth-serving organizations. Services include behavioral support strategies, movement-based interventions, and staff training.

  • What age range do you work with?

I specialize in working with children (ages 2+), adolescents, and their families.

  • Can parents or caregivers participate in sessions?

Absolutely. Parent involvement is welcomed and sometimes essential, especially for younger children. Family sessions or caregiver support can also be arranged as part of the therapeutic process.
